You’ll notice from the past posts on this site that X-Tab apps has been around for several months now. It was originally called FB X-Tab and only came with a few applications.
It has been improved considerably since it’s first offerings and now consists of six different applications combined into one software suite and renamed X-Tab Apps. It’s functions have gone up and the price down and on December 19th you’ll have another chance to buy it when it is re-released.
X-Tab Review and Bonus
I’ve been using X-Tab for several months now and to be honest I wasn’t any sort of Facebook expert before I started using it. In fact I had never created a fan page before but with all the changes that Facebook has implemented this year I wanted a way to generate Facebook pages that would stand the test of time and not require constant updating every time Facebook changed the rules.
X-Tab or FB X-Tab as it was called at the time came alone at just the right time for me so I signed up and have been disappointed. Now I’m not going to lie to you and say that my first fan page went smoothly and had it running in 10 minutes. Quite the opposite in fact.
I spent a long time going through the training videos which luckily were very detailed. Phil Benham talks you through all the steps showing you exactly what to do. I went through the forum to see what others were doing and then started on my own attempt. In the end it probably took me an hour or so to get the page up, including creating some graphics. But in the end I had my first Fan Page built and it was relatively painless.
Since that time I’ve managed to get my time down considerable and it now takes me longer to get all the graphics and material together than it does to actually create the fan page (which can be done in minutes).
Everything was basically point and click. The tab page is built up in rows, called stacks, either through pre-made templates or of you own choosing. All you need to do is add and configure the tabs for whatever use you need e.g. videos, WYSIWYG text, images, links or buttons. You can even add a facebook comments section to your page so as to encourage friend interactions, which is great for SEO purposes as it creates fresh content which helps your page to rank in the search engines.
The user interface is actually very easy to use, especially if you want to use pre-defined templates which look very professional.
But X-Tab is more than just creating simple pages. It’s real power lies in it’s ability to encourage visitors to become LIKE and SHARE your page so that it appears in their news-feed and therefore attracts more visitors until it becomes a viral beast.
It that weren’t enough you can also create coupons and special offers, give away downloads and reports, build a subscriber list with complete with emails just from a button click. If you want to sell products then you can also use the XCommerce app to create a full eCommerce store inside your page.
I can see the benefit of this for anyone that wishes to create facebook pages for local business. The software is versatile enough for any business and you’d be able to charge a premium for your services. Even if you just want to promote your own niche sites then the viral manner of the pages can generate a lot of extra traffic for you.
Here are the main reasons for and against the X-Tab apps suite as I see it.
PROS
- LIKE and SHARE Gating: Explode your fan numbers by making your pages go viral
- Page Management: All of your pages are easily managed from one interface
- No Coding Required: Pages can be generated using predefines templates so it’s no problem if you don’t know how to write HTML.
- Fully Customizable: If you do want to code then you can still do it easily add HTML and CSS within the modules.
- No need to pay for SSL services: The applications are hosted from secure servers and are fully compliant with new Facebook regulations.
- Low Price: Cheaper than alternatives.
- Automatic Update: The X-Tab Apps are not only under continuous improvement but they will always be compliant with Facebook. If Facebook decides to change their policies (as they did recently when requiring SSL integration) you and your clients can be assured that these apps will continue to work.
- Range of Tools: No other software comes close to the amount of things you can do with X-Tab apps. Not only does it build pages but you can run Contests, eCommerce stores, build subscriber lists, give downloads to your fans and run Coupon offers.
- No hosting or WordPress required: These applications are run from the X-Tab servers so you don’t need to have your own hosting or even website if you don’t want.
- It’s Fast: You can build pages in minutes.
CONS
- Monthly Payment: Some people will not be happy with paying a monthly fee for X-Tab. If you’re only planning on setting up one Facebook page then this is probably not for you.
- The Software does not run on your own servers. Some people may have an issue with the fact that the software is run from X-Tab servers and will not be hosted on your own sites. But this is done for a reason. Firstly to make it more manageable and allow it to be automatically updated and secondly to have it on robust and secure SSL servers so that your pages don’t experience any downtime.
How Does X-Tab compare to some of it’s Competitors?
There are several programs available that can create Facebook pages, one of the more popular being Lejure.
Price wise X-Tab is the cheaper of the two. Lejure costs $27 per month for use with up to 3 Facebook pages, increasing to a whopping $195 for the business plan – per month. X-Tab apps is only $19 per month for unlimited Facebook pages for a single user but the biggest savings are for the multi-user license which is aimed at internet marketers and large business. This costs $49 per month and is considerable cheaper than Lejure.
Functionality between the two programs is similar but the attractive price and more friendly user interface of X-Tab makes it the clear winner in my opinion.
Online Community
The X-Tab community is quite small at present, mainly because the software is newly released, but that isn’t to say that it’s not active.
The support pages are detailed and there are plenty of training videos and articles. Support is quick to respond to queries and questions. Phil and Daniel appear to take users requests seriously and continue to improve the apps based on user feedback.
I have contacted support several times myself and have always been happy with the speed and quality of the response.
X-Tab Review Conclusion
The X-Tab software suite appears to be an excellent value-for-money software suite. Compared to it’s competitors it offers more functionality at a lower cost. The range of applications are excellent
X-Tab is an essential tool for anyone that wishes to create local Facebook business pages. It would be easy to create pages for local businesses and earn your monthly cost back ten fold easily.
If you are an internet marketer then it’s perfect for creating pages for your niche markets and with the ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ gating built in it is easy to make your pages goes viral quickly. That’s not to mention the amount of time and money you can save by not having to outsource your pages to designers and coders. Even if you don’t have any technical skills you can still create facebook pages easily.
One of the best features of the software is that you don’t have to worry about your pages suddenly becoming inactive due to any future Facebook updates. All of the applications are managed from the X-Tab servers and a dedicated team of programmers so you have the peace of mind that things will continue to run smoothly. Something that your clients will appreciate I’m sure.
